Classes & Hours...
We are closed for the winter as of December 31, 2020. We are in search of a new home after having been at The SPRING Student Center for the past 13 years. Stay tuned for further information.
HEAD of DOJO
Sensei John Chapman was installed as the Head of the Willcox Dojo on February 18, 2017. He was promoted to Yon-Dan, 4th Degree Black Belt on June 16, 2018, the 25th Anniversary of Taishinkido. July 17, 2018 Sensei John became a Licensed Instructor with the International and United States Sports Chanbara Association under Shihan Dana Abbott.
Sensei John received AOKA's Black Sash in Tai Chi/Chi Kung in February of 2014 and is currently teaching the Advanced Tai Chi/Chi Kung class for AOKA Willcox. One of Sensei John's student's, Lauralee Kane, is teaching a beginning class for Senior Citizens every Tuesday. She holds a Black Sash. She is assisted by Brown Sash Maureen Mentzer
Sensei John also taught band, choir and orchestra at Willcox Middle and High School from 2011 - 2020. In the Spring of 2017 he became Head Coach of the Willcox High School Tennis team and will continue to do so in the 2021 season. This year (2020-2021) he will be driving school bus as well. Sensei John's ties to the community run deep. He, along with his wife Sharon, opened the SPRING Student Center, home of AOKA Willcox, in 2007 to help the local students. The SPRING location will be closed effective December 2020 after 13 years of service to the community.

FOUNDER OF AOKA Willcox...
Kyoshi D. Scott Jarsonske was first inspired by a Bruce Lee movie he saw in 1974. He got the chance in 1977 when he began studying Shudo Kan Karate in Springfield, Illinois. For several years following, he studied Tai Chi Chuan, Wing Chun Gung Fu and Moo Do Kuan. Upon moving to Willcox, Arizona in 1990, Kyoshi Jaronske started a Dojo at his home called, “The Eagle School of Martial Arts.” Kyoshi then met Grand Master Joe Barnes, AOKA, when his students were competing in a tournament in Sierra Vista, Arizona. In August of 1997, The Eagle school of martial arts became AOKA WILLCOX.
Kyoshi Jaronske is a certified 7th Degree Black Belt, in Tai Shin Ki Do, a San Dan, 3rd Degree Black Belt in Isshinryu, and a certified Instructor of Chanbara through the International Chanbara Federation.

Sensei David Rodriguez was promoted to San-Dan, 3rd Degree Black Belt on June 16, 2018 the 25th Anniversary of Taishinkido. He has been studying Taishinkido for 16 years. Sensei David was Grand Champion in the Adult division at the 10th Annual I.B.B.A. Tournament in September of 2011.
Sensei Michael Hubbard enrolled in the Willcox Dojo as a result of being bullied at age 7. He studied in the Willcox and the Benson Dojos for a total of 18 years. In 2009 he fought in open MMA Tournaments in Tucson winning 3 single elimination tournaments. Shortly thereafter he retired from professional fighting to finish his college degree. Sensei Hubbard then returned to Willcox where he has been teaching in the Willcox Dojo ever since. He was promoted to San Dan (3rd degree) on February 18, 2017.
