Tai Shin Ki Do (the Way of the Body, Mind, and Spirit) is based on the traditional Okinawan Martial Art system known as Isshin-ryu or the “One Heart Method”. The system also includes self-defense techniques from other traditional systems such as Aikido, Judo, Kempo, and Shaolin Gung Fu. These techniques have been selected for balance, effectiveness, versatility, speed, and power. The system stresses kicks and punches thrown from natural stances, elimination of wasted motion, close-in techniques, and proficiency in both hand and foot techniques.

24th Annual AOKA Family Picnic was a Tremendous Success!
We had a great turn out at the picnic...between 40 and 50 people! We were all so glad to see Soke Barnes, the founder of Taishinkido there along with people from Vail/Rita Ranch, Tucson, Fort Huachuca and Willcox. The kids really enjoyed the water feature the park offered and the food was great. Special thanks to Grand Masters Gowan and Hyder for all the work of organizing the picnic and to Shodanho Robert "Bob" Banes from Fort Huachuca for cooking! Next year, the 25th Anniversary!

THE CREED OF KARATE
"I come to you with only karate, empty hands. I have no weapons, but should I be forced to defend myself, my honor or my principles; should it be a matter of life or death, right or wrong, then here are my weapons, my empty hands."
