Meeting with Soke...
On April 1, 2017 we were privileged to be invited to a meeting at Hanshi Barnes' home. We were also honored to have in attendance three Grand Masters in our system: Shihan Gowan, Shihan Hyder and Shihan Cooper (via phone). Shihan Cooper lives in Maryland and remained actively engaged on the phone for the entire meeting. Also in attendance were the Dojo Heads from AOKA Tucson, Sensei Duncan, AOKA Vail, Sensei Schonbrun and AOKA Willcox, Sensei Chapman. Additional attendees were Sensei Hubbard and Sempai Rodriguez from Willcox and Shodanho Bob from Fort Huachuca.
Hanshi Barnes shared for two hours his passion for his creation, his respect for his teachers along with anecdotes from the history of Taishinkido. He also shared with us the importance of maintaining the professionalism and integrity that was integral to his system of karate.
As we are preparing for a Shiai on May 13, Hanshi shared with us all the information necessary to have lined up to put on a respectable Shiai.
